About Quiet Time

Quiet Time is a Washington State Non-Profit Corporation, which develops tools to help Christians with their daily quiet time. The tools are free, and free of advertising.

We believe that having an abiding relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ (through a daily quiet time) is crucial if Christians want to ensure that they finish well. See this blog post for why Christians should have a daily quiet time.

Why did we include the tools that we did in Quiet Time? Because God suggested them ;-)

Growing up in a family of unbelievers, my personal search for God was long and lonely. Only after some serious misfortunes and poor choices did I finally realize that I needed Christ. After taking a spiritual gift assessment, I was led to Stephen Ministries which steered me to Compassionate Care, Biblical Counseling Lay Certificate, and now currently a Senior at Liberty University in the BS Biblical Counseling program. I also have been leading women's Bible studies for 5 years at Faith Community Church and serving as a girls leader in the AWANA program. My goal is to serve the women in my church and community as a Biblical Counselor. I have a heart for those searching and desiring to know God, deepening their relationship with Him through the Scriptures. I am married and we have 6 children and 17 grandchildren between us.

I grew up in a Christian family in the Netherlands, but discovered later in life that accepting Jesus as your Savior, and following Him as your Lord are two different things. I repented and dedicated my life to Him, and have since been using my time, treasure, and talents for His glory, hoping one day to hear from Him "Well done, good and faithful servant". I started Quiet Time after being convinced that it's nearly impossible to finish well in the Christian life without a daily quiet time. My education (master degrees in Aerospace Engineering and Business Administration and a PhD in Technology Management) as well as my working career has prepared me for the development of Quiet Time. I'm an elder and Awana Commander at Faith Community Church in Lynden, WA, very happily married to Elaine and the father of Peter.

Even before I was born, my parents had dedicated me to Jesus. As I grew and went to school, I vividly remember a moment while walking home when a deep question struck me: Who am I, and why am I going back to this home? That question stayed with me and stirred a spiritual hunger within. I began reading the Bible and read Psalm 22:9–10. These verses opened my eyes to the truth that Jesus had been with me from the very beginning. At the age of 15 I gave my life to Christ and was baptized. Though my parents had no formal education, by God’s grace I was able to pursue and complete a master’s degree in technology. I worked as a software engineer for some time, but eventually felt a deep calling to enter full-time ministry. I went on to establish Bethesda Mission Base, which focuses on empathy, evangelism, and equipping. Through these three pillars, we are reaching unreached people groups in remote villages, sharing the love and message of Christ.
